The philosophy of BW design Consulting Architects cc is to supply cost effective and affordable solutions to the building and infrastructure industry through innovative, environmentally friendly and ecological sound design, combined with state-of-the-art technology and principles.

How We Work

Future-proof Methodology

At BW Design we know that the sound managing of projects is the key for meeting our clients’ expectations and delivering on our promises. We adhere to the Architectural Professions Act, (Act No 44 of 2000) and their standards and guidelines to standardise our process for delivering of projects on time, within budget, according to scope and to acceptable quality.

Project Manager

A project manager (PM) is assigned to all our projects who acts as the prime contact person for the project. The PM is responsible for all liaising with the Contractor’s Site Manager, manages the Professional team members and needs to ensure that all expectations are met. The PM typically reports to a Client Manager that is responsible for managing the high-level relationship with the client.

Project Programme

Projects start with the adoption of the Project Programme (PP) by all parties concerned. The aim of the PP is to outline the scope of the project, project plan, budget, milestones and deliverables. The PP also includes the responsibilities of all parties, dependencies that could influence the project and initial project risks.

Steering Committee

On large projects the use of a Steering Committee (SC) is highly recommended to ensure that all parties are informed and to create a forum for decision making. The SC should ideally consist of the PM, Consulting Team, Contractor as well as the client. Bi-monthly meetings create the forum to discuss progress, to resolve any challenges and to make decisions.

Risk Register 

All known and anticipated risks are carefully registered in the Risk Register (RR). The RR is a living document throughout the project and ensures that all parties are informed, and that measures can be implemented to manage and prevent risks on the project.

Audit Trail

We are serious about documentation to ensure that our projects are fully auditable. Each phase of the project include documentation such as drawings, technical specifications and recommendations as well as sign off documents to ensure that we conclude a phase before continuing. We also ensure that progress or milestone reports are presented to our clients at regular intervals. It is also our preferred method to include a full automated audit trail in all our technology projects that allows us to track who has been doing what on the system.

Executing the work

We foresee that the Work Stages will be applicable to the Project as a whole, as well as to each and every Project as per Region/ Town. The Master Plan will be dealt with in a Holistic manner according to the Stages and will then be prioritised to deal with each Project according to the Client.
